General
What do you mean by “The Royale Crown Difference”?
The Royale Crown Difference is our unique approach to every homeowner’s construction project. It means we maintain communication with you before, during, and after your project is complete. It means we bring our years of experience, attention to detail, and precision craftsmanship to every job we undertake. And finally, it means we will complete your project on time, on budget, and to your complete satisfaction.
Where do your prices fall on the spectrum — high, medium, or low?
Compared with other contractors, our prices are competitive and generally fall at the higher end of the medium range of pricing. Most importantly, our prices are guaranteed. You might find contractors who will quote you less money for the same job, however, the money they save you at the estimate translates to a low quality, poorly constructed result. At Royale Crown, we take pride in our work and we know that ultimately, you get what you pay for. We believe you’ll find it’s worth paying a little extra to ensure you get a great quality job done by professionals in a timely manner.
How do you avoid budget overruns on a project?
The most important way to avoid budget overruns is by estimating thoroughly at the start of a project utilizing our proprietary four-step process. Our methodology is well thought out, allowing us to back up our numbers with facts and figures. Our years of experience have given us the ability to calculate the scope of a project and the cost of materials needed with a great degree of accuracy. Additionally, we can anticipate any issues we might encounter before beginning so there are no cost overruns at the end.
Every estimate is broken down into a neatly itemized list for you to review. The only time prices are subject to change is if you change your mind in the middle of your project.
Remodeling
How is your approach unique?
We have the utmost respect for you and believe that once you are aware of the options available to you, you will make a decision to suit your own needs. We will work closely with you to determine what you need and will work diligently to fit that into your budget, so you get what you want. We help you establish what you’re getting from the beginning, so that there is no disappointment and no surprises at the end of the day.
Why shouldn’t I go with the lowest bid I receive?
You should choose a remodeling contractor based on what is included (the value), and not just the price of the project (the cost.)
How is your design consultation session different?
We perform a consultation with the idea that we want to know what you want. In about 90 minutes, we ask you a wide range of questions that will help us build a detailed idea of your project. When we’re done, we can determine what you want, how you want it, and what you can afford.
Roofing
I have an old roof. Will my insurance company cover the cost of repairs that result from storm damage?
Your roof is insured as a roof, period. Not as an old or new roof, but as a roof. If you have damage you are entitled to a new roof. Just because your roof is old doesn’t mean you have less coverage.
What is depreciation?
If your roof is anything but brand new, there is going to be depreciation based on the age of the roof. Depreciation only affects you should you decide to forgo the repairs to your damaged property and pocket the money instead. When the damages are repaired the depreciation is then paid out by the insurance company to cover the entire cost of the project, less your deductible. This is called recoverable depreciation.
Why is it important to get the repairs done when you make a claim?
If you decide that your damage isn’t really bad and you’d prefer to take the money rather than have your roof repaired, you’re taking a big risk. That’s because once a roof is deemed damaged and your insurance company pays for the repairs, they are no longer liable for damage to your roof. That means that if hail cracks your shingles and eventually lead to leaks, the insurance company will not cover the damage, and the repairs will wind up costing you thousands of dollars out of pocket.
I’ve inspected my roof and didn’t see any damage.
Sometimes, damage to a roof can be hard to spot. An experienced hail damage expert has been trained to know what to look for. Royale Crown Construction has the experience and knowledge to perform a no-obligation roof inspection. Best of all, it takes us just 10-15 minutes to do so and is absolutely free.
I don’t want to move forward until I’ve spoken with my insurance company/adjuster/agent.
The agreement you sign with Royale Crown acts as a contingent contract. This means that if your insurance company doesn’t approve your claim, the contract is void. We will help you negotiate with your insurance company, working to get your claim approved and advocating for no out-of-pocket costs to you other than your deductible. As professional contractors, we advocate on your behalf asking for the proper repairs to be covered in your loss. As a result, we can complete your repairs in a timely manner.
Windows
Do you sell any windows in the $189 range?
No. Those windows are a pricing gimmick. Exterior remodeling companies that advertise the $189 window don’t actually sell them. These remodelers use this tactic to get people to call them and inquire about the window. Once you call them, they will quickly schedule an appointment with you at which they will try to convince you to buy a more expensive, more efficient model of window. This bait-and-switch process is not just unscrupulous, it is also illegal in many states.
At Royale Crown, our pricing is straightforward and honest.
How long does an appointment normally take?
The length of a meeting varies depending on the amount of questions you have regarding your windows. Typically, appointments with our customers last from 45-60 minutes. The most time-consuming portion of the visit is measuring your windows.
Why should I hire you to install my windows?
If you don’t install a window properly, then it will not work properly. To get the most out of your window, the installation must be done correctly and professionally. We make sure our installation personnel are well trained and experienced enough to handle any window installation.
Why shouldn’t I go with the lowest price option other companies are offering?
What you should be shopping for is the best value for your money. If you purchase a window of inferior quality at a lower price it will not provide you with either the security or the energy savings you’re looking for. Royale Crown Construction is happy to walk you through your options and show you how spending a little more in the beginning can add up to hundreds and even thousands of dollars in savings in the future.
What is the importance of insulation around a window?
Even the highest quality windows on the market will not do their job if the insulation surrounding it is inferior. In fact, the insulation is just as important, if not more so, than the window itself.
The best way to make certain you get the most out of your window purchase is to ensure that the insulation around it is sound.
Bathroom Remodels
Can Royale Crown convert an existing bathroom to be handicap accessible?
Yes. We offer several options when it comes to making your bathroom safer and handicap accessible including the installation of a handicap shower stall with a seat, an overhead sliding door, an elevated, wall mounted toilet, as well as safety rails around the toilet. Additionally, we can install slip-resistant flooring, easy-to-reach light switches and electrical outlets, and supplemental lighting.
Kitchen Remodels
I heard kitchen remodels can be extremely expensive. What are my options if I have a tight budget?
Some kitchen remodeling ideas are going to be more expensive than others, but you would be pleasantly surprised at the level of change you can affect with a smaller budget.
As a Minnesota kitchen and bath remodeler, we will advise you in creating your remodel within your budget.
How can I open up my kitchen and make it larger?
Depending on the architectural design of your home, the degree to which your kitchen remodel can be expanded differs. In a typical case, we inspect to see if there are any load-bearing walls in the kitchen. After that has been determined, we offer a set of options for expansion including wall tear downs, bump-outs, pass-throughs, new cabinetry, and many other options.
